4 WAYS TO DINE WITH STRASBURG RAIL ROAD

One of the servers at the Strasburg Rail Road getting ready to serve a meal aboard the dining car.

Transport yourself back to a time when steam trains were the main mode of transportation, and decadent meals were consumed while riding the rails. Whether you’re in the mood for a light lunch or even an adult beverage, there’s something for everyone on our luxury dining excursions.

While dining options are always available aboard our select passenger cars, you may not be aware that we have quite the selection of food-centered events throughout the year. Come hungry when you purchase a ticket for one of our fabulous dining experiences.

1. Lunch Aboard the Lee E. Brenner Dining Car:

Enjoy a delicious light lunch on our Lee E. Brenner Dining Car, the nation’s only all-wood dining car still in continuous passenger service. Choose from a selection of soups, sandwiches, salads, desserts and a featured kids menu. It’s a great way to fill your family’s tummies before a day filled with fun and adventure in Lancaster County. Our lunch service is available on our daily trains between 11 am and 3 pm ET.

2. Wine & Cheese Train:

Whether you’re looking to spice things up on date night, spend a night on the town with the girls, or just relax while riding an authentic steam train, our Wine & Cheese Train is the perfect night out. You’ll be seated in either our First Class Parlor Car or our First Class Lounge Car and served a local selection of wine, cheese, and crackers. Choose from an array of red, white and blush wines from Mount Hope Winery. Wine, not your style? There is also a selection of beer and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. This popular train is available on select evenings between April and November; you must be 21 or older and have a valid photo I.D. to board.

3. Murder Mystery Dinner Train:

Add some entertainment to your dinner with our Murder Mystery Dinner Train featuring Act 1 Productions. Anything but ordinary, this train ride offers three different show options giving our guests a unique experience aboard the rails.

Show A is our B.I.N.G.Ohh Murder where you’ll be a suspect in the case of the murdered BINGO caller. Enjoy a fun round of BINGO, door prizes, and solve a case while enjoying your meal.

Show B is The Goober’s Carnival Murder Mystery, where local carnival boys get into a bit of trouble when a carnival clown is found belly up in a dunk tank. You’ll be charged with figuring out “whodunit?” in this fun murder mystery.

Show C is available for one night only on October 28th. The Monster Mashed, the Musical is our special Halloween Murder Mystery Train where you’ll have to figure out who bumped Dr. Dementia’s monster. Come dressed in your best Halloween costume, and you could win a prize.

Aboard our murder mystery trains, you’ll enjoy an enticing menu with selections like chicken marsala, filet of prime rib, seasoned potatoes, cheesecake and much more. Dates are available between June and November; this event is not recommended for children under 5 years of age.

4. Oktoberfest

Come October, the weather gets cooler and we start bringing out the comfort food. Join us for our special Oktoberfest Train where you’ll get a taste of our local German heritage with traditional recipes and locally crafted beers. Our menu includes bratwurst, sausage, pork and sauerkraut, soft pretzels, pierogies, German potato salad, German chocolate cake and more. This train is available on select dates in October.
