5 WAYS TO PREPARE FOR THE LONG JOHN LIMITED
The Long John Limited is back again this year and it will be as exciting as ever! This invigorating event is taking place on our steam train’s Open Air Car, which means no windows, doors, heat, or cushioned seats. With our recent snow and chilly temperatures, this ride is sure to be one you won’t soon forget! To help you prepare for this chilly challenge, we put together some cold hard tips for those who are brave-at-heart!
1. Reserve your seat. Seating is limited, so reserve your ticket and secure your spot to experience the wonders of winter.
2. Bring a friend. This adventure naturally promises to provide an element of excitement. For those who are stronger in pairs, we encourage you to invite a friend. You are sure to create lasting memories and reminisce about this thrilling experience for years to come.
3. Bundle up from head to toe. This event will take place rain, sleet, snow, or shine, and being prepared for the weather is just the beginning. Make sure to consider the breeze that will be wafting through the Open Air car during the excursion. This is sure to create an exhilarating journey as you soak in the scenery of the beautiful Lancaster County landscape. Dressing in multiple layers will help to keep you warm, so start with your favorite pair of long johns and bundle up!
4. Grab some refreshments. Before you board the train, make sure to grab a complimentary Long John donut (a Lancaster delicacy provided by Achenbach’s Pastries Inc.) and hot cup of joe to help keep you warm during your travel down the tracks!
5. Plan ahead. Be mindful that this exciting excursion isn’t for everyone. Due to potentially frigid temperatures, very young children (or any passenger) may want to ride in a heated Coach directly adjacent the Open Air Car.
