Pumpkins In Paradise – Coach Class

Join us as we celebrate the fall season with a fun celebration at Groff’s Picnic Grove! On September 28 at 4:00 pm or 6:00 pm, hop aboard the historic steam train for a ride through Amish country, then disembark at Groff’s Picnic Grove for a 40-minute layover as you enjoy live music, games, and pumpkin decorating.

Included with each guest ticket is:

A 45-minute steam train ride through Amish Country
A complimentary “Field Trip” (or Mystic) pumpkin for each child
Live music by local musicians and SRC team members
Fun fall activities
Fall-themed, sweet treats from Cafe 1832 will be available for purchase

About Groff’s Grove:

Swings, a merry-go-round, and seesaws will entertain the kids while you sit back and enjoy the bucolic view of Lancaster County’s Amish Country. Amenities at Groff’s Grove include picnic tables, charcoal grills, hand-pumped potable water, and porta-potties.

Our standard coaches are beautifully restored in authentic Victorian style. Enjoy the comfort of potbelly stove heat during cold days. During warmer weather, open the windows for some fresh air.

From the moment you enter, you are immediately thrust into a turn-of-the-century reality that you cannot escape. Or can you? Unleash your inner detective as you enter the mystery and try to escape an old stationary PRR Caboose in our Town Square.

Guests are traveling by rail for the big premiere of a new Broadway show and to attend an intimate reception with its star. As the train departs, guests are treated to drinks from the bar, hors d’oeuvres, and soon after, a body. Who could the killer be? The high-powered press agent, the famous actor, her jealous manager, or even the barman? It’s anyone’s guess!

The summer of 1863 comes alive at the Strasburg Rail Road! What if the battle of Gettysburg never happened and the Union troops needed to defend Lancaster and the northern railroads? This immersive, one-weekend-only event creates a story around “what happened if the bridge never burned.”

The SANTA CLAUS LIMITED is our classic, relaxed 45-minute steam train ride through Amish Country with a brief personal visit with Santa. This is a great way to experience the historic Strasburg Rail Road and see Santa Claus in person!

Enjoy a classic story time reading of “The Night Before Christmas” aboard our restored Victorian coach cars!
